AADSA Constitution
ARTICLE I – NAME AND PURPOSE
Section 1: This organization shall be know as the African-American Design Student Association.
Section 2: The purpose(s) of this organization shall be to provide a support network for African-American design students as well as promote and preserve the unique attributes of those students.
ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP
Section 1: Membership shall be open to regularly enrolled students, faculty and staff of North Carolina State University’s school of Design who are interested in providing a support network for African-American design students as well as promoting and preserving the unique attributes of these students.
Section 2: Membership is strictly voluntary and open to all who are regularly enrolled students, faculty and staff of North Carolina State University’s school of Design and who are interested in the organization’s purpose as stated.
ARTICLE III - OFFICERS
Section 1: The elective officers of this club shall be the following:
- I. President – The President shall:
- (a) be chief executive officer of the A.A.D.S.A.;
- (b) represent the A.A.D.S.A in dealings with the students of other universities, the faculty and administration;
- (c) appoint officers necessary for the operation of A.A.D.S.A;
- (d) enforce and administer all laws enacted by the A.A.D.S.A;
- (e) A.A.D.S.A body decisions providing the veto is support by majority vote of the executive committee;
- (f) call and preside at meetings of the A.A.D.S.A;
- (g) make appointments to fill vacated elective offices, unless otherwise specified in the Student Body Constitution, subject to the approval by a two-thirds majority of the A.A.D.S.A student body.
- The President shall be chose from the A.A.D.S.A body at large.
- II. Vice President – The Vice President shall:
- (a) assist the chief executive in his/her duties and shall inherit all powers and responsibilities in his/her absence;
- (b) act as chairperson of all committees and serve as liaison between these committees and the executive council.
- The Vice President shall be chose from the A.A.D.S.A body at large.
- III. Treasurer – The Treasurer shall:
- (a) be the chief financial officer of the A.A.D.S.A;
- (b) have the power to examine the financial records of all internal programs;
- (c) prepare and submit to the Executive Council an annual A.A.D.S.A budget;
- (d) keep a record of all allocations and expenditures of the A.A.D.S.A funds;
- (e) approve all disbursement of A.A.D.S.A funds;
- (f) submit to the Executive Council, upon request, a written report of the state of the treasury’
- (g) be responsible for all accounting work’
- (h) serve as consultant for all Business Office affairs;
- The Treasurer shall be chose from the A.A.D.S.A body at large.
- IV. Secretary – The Secretary shall:
- (a) be responsible for keeping a record of all meetings;
- (b) be prepared to submit, upon request, a report of all meeting’s
- (c) be responsible for assisting treasurer in all financial affairs;
- (d) responsible for all internal and external correspondence.
- The Secretary shall be chose from the A.A.D.S.A body at large.
- V. Ways and Means Coordinator – The Ways and Means Coordinator shall:
- (a) be responsible for research and development of all projects, events, activities, etc.
- (b) act as a liaison between the A.A.D.S.A general body in dealing with suggestions or proposals for projects, events, activities, etc.;
- (c) shall report directly to Executive Committee in the dealing with external affairs;
- (d) chief executive of external affairs;
- (e) submit a written proposal for all projects, events, activities, etc.
Any article of this constitution or part thereof that is in direct violation of the Student Government constitution or by-laws shall be null and void and declared unconstitutional by the President of Student Government. Any differences of opinion between the club and the President of Student Government shall be brought before the Legislature, whose decision shall be final.
