How
Do I Join?
"Alpha
Zeta is not a goal to be reached, but a stimulus for further effort."
What:
Alpha
Zeta Information Sessions for Spring 2010
When: January 26-28, 2010 at 6:30pm
Where: Bragaw Activity Room
Letter
of Invitation...
If a student (male or female) has sufficient hours to be considered
a sophomore, is in the top 40% of their major scholastically (meaning the student has to have a GPA at NC State, you cannot be a first semester transfer student), and
is in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences or the College
of Natural Resources, the student should receive a letter of invitation
to Roundtable, mailed at the beginning of each semester. The letter
also gives details about the Information Sessions.
Information Sessions...
Our information Sessions are over a period of 3 days in which students who received a letter
of invitation and are interested in joining Alpha Zeta may come
to meet the current brothers and enjoy free food and fellowship.
Events are held in the Bragaw Activity Room on campus.
Events may include bowling, putt-putt, a pig pickin', a potluck
dinner, ice cream, etc. A slideshow is shown each night with information about
our events and requirements of membership. The informations sessions are extremely informal,
relaxed, and fun. Note that alcohol is strictly prohibited at all
official Alpha Zeta events.
Roundtable...
Roundtable is the equivalent of an interview in which the student
goes before the brotherhood to introduce him/herself and answers
any questions they may have. It is held on the Sunday following the information sessions. After Roundtable, those students whom the brotherhood wishes
to invite to join the fraternity will receive a bid. The censor
will notify the student and he/she may chose to accept or decline
the bid, or the student may wish to defer their bid until the following
semester.
Candidate
Week...
There
is one week of required orientation each semester for new brother
candidates. The week is kicked off by an off-campus , overnight
retreat held on the Friday night following Roundtable. A service
project will be done on Saturday morning. Sunday-Thursday, students
report to a meeting place on campus each evening for a variety of
events. Candidate week ends on Friday night with another off-campus
trip. Each new brother candidate must demonstrate or have potential
for the four characteristics of an AZ brother. They are: scholarship,
leadership, fellowship, and character. Candidate Week activities
require a time committment. Brothers and candidates will interact
frequently and work together throughout the week. Alpha Zeta does
not tolerate alcohol use and/or hazing.
If a student has any questions or feels he or she meets the academic
criteria and doesn't receive a letter, they should contact
