Outreach Programs

Insect can be used as models for a wide variety of biological science concepts. The following are some of the most popular and effective outreach programs. Programs can also be developed to fit individual curricula.

Life Cycles  (30 Minutes)

Using live tobacco hornworm eggs, larvae, pupae and adults, the program demonstrates the stages of holometabolous metamorphoses. This program is very popular and can be adapted to any age group.

The Honey Bee  (45 Minutes)

Teaches the importance of bees, bee behavior and the difference between bees and wasps.

Biological Control  (30 Minutes)

Demonstrates the use of insect predators, parasites and pathogens as insect control agents. Program includes live insects as well as preserved specimens.

Good Bugs and Bad Bugs  (30 Minutes)
