The KnockOut Chronicles
Service
Freshmen Move-inThe Office of Greek Life sponsored its annual Freshmen Move-in. Sorors served alongside other members of the Greek community in various locations on campus assisting freshmen in moving in to their dormitories. 100% soror attendance won us free movie passes. Sorority Row anyone?
Service NC State
The Kappa Omicron Chapter participated in Service NC State, where sorors, along with a host of other students and organizations, helped to package over 1,250,000 meals in an effort to alleviate hunger in underdeveloped countries, including the West Indies and Africa.
Back to SKOol Supplies Drive
Young children deserve the same opportunity to receive their education as we received. We decided to help young students in need to make the best of their educational experience by providing them with the basic tools necessary to engage in the classroom setting: school supplies. With the help and support of our fellow NC State students, we have raised a wealth of supplies to satisfy all of our target groups — a single-parent home of 10 children, a single-parent home of one child, and a local middle school classroom. Thank you to all who contributed.
Ribbons on the Run
In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, KO teamed up with Delta Zeta Sorority and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority to organize "Ribbons on the Run." Our goal was to sell 1,000 breast health goodie bags for $1 each. Each bag contains a chocolate chip cookie, a chocolate candy, a pink ribbon and breast health information. All proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
KO also volunteered with the Women Center's Chocolate Festival and the Susan G. Komen Foundation's Komen on the Go. GO PINK!

The KnockOut Show: KOveted Relationships
NPHC's "Meet the Greeks" was followed by our talk show-style program focusing on healthy Black relationships. We invited guests to talk with our audience members about the nature of their intimate, companion or familial relationships. A light reception followed the show. With an unexpected attendance of over 100 audience members, a quick run to the grocery store for more refreshments ended an engaging and educational event.

This drive allows for young students to be active and engaged in the classroom. It fosters a sense of community and environment of inclusion leading to greater opportunity for success, and provides some of the basic and necessary tools for educational advancement.
Skee Week 2009
This fall's Skee Week proved to be a great success. With a program hitting every ESP target, we were able to present our campus community with fun, service-oriented and educational programs. The following programs were planned and executed during Skee Week: KO Homecoming Tailgate, Maripolooza Festival (a family fun day hosted by the Mariposa School for autistic children), I Will Survive (a breast cancer awareness program co-sponsored with the NCSU Chapter of 100 Black Men), Hair Up, KOlesterol Down (a zumba workout led by instructor "Gigi"), Think Pink. Live Green (co-sponsored with Delta Zeta Sorority), 1st Annual Krimson and Kreme Basketball Tournament (a Thanksgiving service project organized by the Kappa Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and supported by the Kappa Omicron Chapter), and Be KOunted (a mini-campaign for the 2010 Census).
