Philanthropy is an
important part of the Alpha Theta Chapter.
Some of our events have been:
- Carwashes to raise money for NCSU staff members in need.
- NC Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom
- Sock Drives for the Open Door Clinic
- Canned Food Drives for the Agri-Life Council
- Volunteering at the Food Bank of NC
- Service projects at 4-H Camps
- CALS Tailgate
- Singing Christmas Carols at a local retirement community
- NCSU's Service Raleigh
- And MANY others!!
This is the Chapter's Objective for the Agriculture in The Classroom Project
To support women in agriculture and the field of agriculture through education, Sigma Alpha Sorority will support the existing North Carolina state Agriculture in the Classroom Program to make children more aware of the importance of agriculture in their daily lives. This means working along with NC Farm Bureau on programs and/or striving for education of children in other select projects. These programs can be in one of the following environments:
- Directly in the Classroom during school hours
- In the school for special programs and after school programs
- In the office/home/field preparing for classroom visits or other related educational events
