In the fall of 1999 the University of North Carolina’s chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma, Rho, began trekking to North Carolina State University in hopes of starting a colony.  Rho Brother, Larry Menard, along with Gamma Beta alumnus, Julie Jones, and Alpha Kappa alumnus, Sherrie Settle, were instrumental in beginning negotiations with NCSU for Alpha Chi Sigma to be present on campus.  Their first pledge class that fall bore them only one pledge, Wes Gordon.  They continued their efforts and, in the spring of 2000, were rewarded with three new recruits, Nicole Greene, Katie Holman and Sheetal Trivedi.  Now having people to do some legwork on the NCSU campus, Rho began to sit back and watch its interest group blossom.  During the following fall of 2000 Nicole and Wes were left to do much of the recruiting and pledging process due to the fact that Katie and Sheetal were studying abroad.  Rho helped and attended North Carolina State functions when possible.  The year of 2001 yielded seven new members to the order and things began to flourish at North Carolina State.  On December 5^th, 2001 North Carolina State University was granted Colony status.  Only one and a half years later, after much diligent work, on May 7^th, 2003, NCSU was given its charter and dubbed the Gamma Xi chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma.  At the conclusion of the spring 2005 semester, Gamma Xi consists of six faculty brothers, twenty-eight alumni brothers, and twenty collegiate brothers!
