She also helps shape and form the overall direction of the organization by consulting with the president. The vice president is also liable to fill in for the president should he or she not be able to make an event. In addition, the vice president is responsible for all apparel sales. Secretary - Alyson Harding
The secretary is responsible for keeping notes at all the meetings. The secretary is also in charge of the listserv. Treasurer - Dre Antono
The treasurer is responsible for all things money related. He or she helps to secure funds from student government, create a budget, process reimbursments, and keep a balanced checkbook. The works project officers are probably who most people think about when they hear Habitat for Humanity. The works project officers are those people who coordinate and lead the work days every weekend. All the time and energy we spend fundraising each semester goes to support a home in Wake County. In addition to providing financial support for the home, we also provide the bulk of the labor for our house. It is up to the works project officers to communicate with Wake County Habitat for Humanity and ensure that we have a house to work on. Once the works project officers have done that, they get a group of about 30 to 40 volunteers via the Listserv to come out nearly every Saturday morning. These volunteers then either go to a construction site or a deconstruction site. With construction, the volunteers help build an entire house, from foundation to roofing to painting, in a little more than a semester's time. With deconstruction, volunteers help tear down old homes and buildings, while at the same time salvaging as much of the materials as possible to be taken and re-sold at the Habitat for Humanity Re-store in Raleigh. It is up to the works project officers to ensure that we have work sites to work on and a steady stream of volunteers to participate each weekend. Additionally, works project officers have been heavily engaged in the planning and running of Shack-A-Thon. Fundraising - Monica Golike - Art Goodson
The fundraising officers are responsible for coordinating and collecting funds through various activities throughout the year. This includes helping with the coordination of Shack-A-Thon, organizing and running the House Your Neighbor 5K, and other activites. These officers should continually be coming up with new ways to collect funds for the organization. Our yearly goal is to reach $50,000. Funds can come from the campus community, corporations, and churches.Publicity - Mija Nichols
The Publicity Committee is one of the more active committees in the NC State University Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Our job is to inform those on campus and in the surrounding community of NCSU Habitat events and activities.
We chalk campus for meetings, paint the tunnel for Shack-A-Thon, arrange press coverage for major events, and work with local businesses to supply our operations with paint, chalk, and other necessary materials. The main thing we need help with is advertisement on campus. This includes chalking and writing on marker boards. We encourage you to be creative with this; it makes it a lot more fun. But that is not all we do. During Shack-A-Thon, committee members contacted the media and local businesses to enlist their help in the event. We are always looking for new ideas for publicizing the club and our activities, so feel free to make suggestions. Finding ways to simply remind people on campus that we are here is something we would love to accomplish in between All-Campus Meetings. Education - Faeben Fulford - Samantha Opachan
The office of tutoring/education outreach is primarily responsible for coordinating tutoring events throughout the year. This includes working with the Boy's and Girl's clubs to secure tutoring times and recruit tutors. In addition, the outreach portion of this office is to inform the community about the overall Habitat for Humanity mission statement. That is, we do not only build houses, but we also build a strong community through strong educations equiping the next generation of children to overcome poverty with a good education. Fellowship - Sandhya Advani
You might be asking yourself, "What does the fellowship officers do?" Well, we are in charge of providing food for the weekend wordays. Whether this is simply making peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches, or securing food donations varies, but we've got to keep the builders full each weekend.
In addition, we also plan social events and gatherings to bring the club closer together. We are considering the possibility of a formal dance in the spring this year. We just try to do whatever we can to make sure everybody has a fun time in addition to tutoring and building. Art for the Heart - Will McGugan
A new initiative.
