Fall and Spring Break Trips

Every year NCSU Habitat for Humanity organizes a fall and spring break trip. For Fall Break, we travel to another state near North Carolina to serve in a different community. Past trips have included Beatyville, KY and Hilton Head, SC. For Spring Break, we try to venture a little farther away to places like Columbus, GA, and Miami, FL. This year, we are trying to organize a trip to New Orleans or another part of Louisiana hit by Hurricane Katrina.

On the trips we stay in affiliate-sponsored housing, typically a bunk-bed style dorm or on a church floor. We get up early, build Habitat homes all day, and for that reason tend to go to bed early too. During Spring Break, we often participate in Blitz Builds. This involves "roughing in" (looks like a full house on the outside) an entire house in less than 5 days.

The trips are an amazing amount of fun and it often results in Habitater's for life. Many of this year's Habitat officers are from last year's spring break trip. It's a great opportunity to de-stress, meet new people, have a lot of fun, and help others all at the same time.

If you're interested in either trip, email the Habitat President, Lisa Thompson at knhoke@ncsu.edu for more details and to be put on an interest list. No prior Habitat experience necessary, just a desire to help and have a great time!
