We tutor at the Boy's and Girl's clubs of Raleigh on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 PM until 8 PM. We meet on campus in front of Bragaw Residence Hall (near the half-circle off of Dan Allen Drive). If you do not have a car, that is fine. We carpool with whoever we have to get out to Boy's and Girl's clubs.
To start tutoring, all you need to do is join the listserve and watch your email inbox every Sunday for the tutoring sign-up emails. When you sign up for tutoring, you are only signing up for that week. You can volunteer as often or as little as you desire, and we are never going to know the difference.
We provide all the supplies that you may need when tutoring, so you just have to bring yourself. Almost all of the kids need help in elementary math or English, which shouldn't be much of a problem for anybody here at NC State. We will occassionally get students in high school who need help, but this is not the bulk of our tutees. No prior experience is necessary, just come on out.
Remember, just keep an eye out for that email every Sunday about tutoring. Respond quickly because we only have a limited number of spots, and they get taken pretty fast. Tutoring is a wonderful experience, and I am certain that once you get out there and start helping these children, you will be hooked on tutoring.
