1,130 NC State students were diagnosed with influenza or influenza-like illness (presumed H1N1) from August 17 through late afternoon October 26, 2009. Numbers are based on having a positive rapid influenza A test, meeting the CDC definition of influenza-like illness, or having positive specialized testing for H1N1.
1,130 is likely conservative because it includes only those diagnosed by a Student Health physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Those diagnosed by a community healthcare provider, who treated based on telephone medical advice, who visited a Student Health nurse only, or who self-treated without seeking medical care are not included in the count.
The breakdown includes 23 during week of August 17, 58 during week of August 24, 115 during week of August 31, 112 during week of September 7, 217 during week of September 14, 193 during week of September 21, 164 the week of September 28, 73 the shortened week of October 5, 2009 (fall break), 88 the week of October 12, 96 the week of October 19, and additional cases continuing this week.
Analysis of those affected shows a variety of majors, 50.4% male, 49.6% female, 90.5% undergraduate, 64.1% residing off campus, and 35.9% residing on campus at various residences.

WHY ARE WE HERE
Inter-Residence Council, or IRC, is a residential resource organization which is here to listen to the voice of on-campus residents. We us e this knowledge to create a link among the residents. We also educate, promote diversity, and serve as a voice to the University community for on-campus residents.
HOW WE DO IT
IRC holds a meeting each Thursday at 7:00PM in Turlington basement (meetings are open to everybody). Each week we discuss residential concerns, learn something new, provide communication among the halls, and write/read/laugh at the infamous announcements.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
You know you want to GET INVOLVED! The easiest way is to show up to our weekly meetings at 7:00 PM in Turlington basement. You can learn about upcoming programs and events, or voice your residential community's opinions. We are always open to new ideas and thoughts. Anyone can also become a hall representative, committee member, committee chair, or executive board member.
Hello Everyone,
This semester is well on its way, and time has definitely flown by. IRC has been off to a great start so far, and I always appreciate to hear your feedback. We have had the chance to hear from many different departments on campus including Com-Tech, Dining, Facilities, and even the Hillsborough Street project. We keep our upcoming meetings posted on this site, so be sure to check it out if there is one you are interested in attending.
In terms of other things around campus, IRC is also working on the visitation policy. We sent out a survey to all residents living on main campus, and we truly appreciate the feedback; close to 2,000 students responded! We are working with the data and will keep you posted on what is going on with the project. Also, IRC is well underway with programs for this year. For the rest of this semster and into next year, look forward to Broomball, Beyond Aladdin - Islamic Education, and even a Hyptnotist coming to campus!

Become a Tutor for Spring 2010
Top 5 reasons to become a tutor:
- solidify subject knowledge for future courses and GRE preparation

All interested students must be enrolled undergraduates with at least a 3.0 overall GPA and have received a B+ or better in the course they want to tutor. Required information sessions are currently being offered.
