Carbonfund.org’s motto is “reduce what you can, offset what you can’t”. Carbon offsets empower individuals and businesses to be part of the solution to climate change enabling anyone to be carbon neutral today. As strange as it may seem, it is impossible to be carbon neutral without supporting a reduction, or offset, in CO2 emissions elsewhere.

Carbon offsets have been misunderstood by many over the last few years, ironically particularly by scholars and so-called experts. At its core, a carbon offset is simply a reduction in CO2 from a baseline. While some people get caught up in arcane technical arguments, the planet, our client, cares only about absolute carbon reductions. She does not care where the reductions occur, why they occur, or how they occur.

Mr. Carlson’s presentation discusses the basics of carbon offsets, why they are important to our planet and how they will ultimately solve the problem of climate change faster and at a lower cost than many other solutions. He will discuss how individuals and businesses use offsets and he will present Carbonfund.org’s new consumer CarbonFree™ Product Label, bringing carbon neutral purchasing to consumers.
