John Rogers retired from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in May 2000 after 32 years with that agency. He began his career as a research biologist and after serving in a variety of research and management positions he ended his career as the Deputy Director from 1995-2000. For 2 of those years he served as acting Director. Rogers has a Bachelors degree from Cornell University, a Masters from New Mexico State University, and a Ph. D. from NC State University. All his degrees are in wildlife ecology. He now works for The Conservation Fund in the Fund’s Chapel Hill, NC office and serves as a Senior Fellow managing TCF’s Carbon Sequestration Program. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources (Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences) at NC State, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Conservation Trust for North Carolina and chair of its Land Protection Committee.
