SYMPOSIUM HOME

The biofuels industry has been growing fast this past decade due to the current belief and perception that biofuels are a "green" way to reduce dependency on unsustainable fossil fuels. Unfortunately the race to provide biofeuls to consumers could bring negative impacts to consumers, markets, and the environment. As with other new technologies and approaches, weighing the benefits and the costs are important to attain a better understanding of its possible impacts. Thus allowing us to continue to develop the new strategy, minimizing the unintended consequences and maximizing the advantages for most stakeholders.

We invite you to join us Friday, April 17th in Raleigh, NC on the campus of North Carolina State University to hear presentations from Steve Kelley, Donna Robichaud, Roger Sedjo, Marvin Burchfield, Chelsea Conover, Bob Abt, William McDow, Robert Beach, Carlos Teodoro Irigaray, Matt Rudolphand, and Roger Sedjo and be involved in discussions surrounding this emerging topic. The symposium will begin at 8:30 AM, recess at 12:30 for a catered lunch, and dismiss at 3:15 PM with a reception to follow. Please follow the links for additional information.

For those seeking Continuing Forestry Education Credits, 4.5 credits for Cat 1 - CF will be available.

If you would like to bring a research poster related to biofuels please feel welcome to do so and we will display them during the symposium. Please send an email to Susan (sdmcinty@ncsu.edu) with your title and abstract.

In addition we would like to proved the oppurtunity for students to post their resumes and employers to post information about their company to encourage networking. So, please feel free to bring information to be posted.
