Effective Global Teams Involving Multicultural Workforce:
Embracing diversity for success
Time - 2:00pm-5:00pm
at Daniels Hall, Room 218
Abastract:
This highly interactive workshop is divided in two days.
It will start with an overview of cultural differences and an introduction to some
of the key cultural dimensions models. Participants will then perform a number of
different exercises to practice facilitating work with people from other cultures.
A module on cross-cultural critical thinking provides participants with techniques
to gain new insights into specific cultures that they are dealing with, to indentify
aspects such as the use of other’s knowledge to perform daily duties and the effect
of three important aspects, gender, and age and communication skills.
For the second day, each participant will choose two cultures
that they wish to study in more depth, for which each will receive a Cultural values
summary for their reference. Working with partners, they will resolve cross-cultural
issues presented in exercises (or from situations that the participants themselves
provide) and then share key learning with the rest of the group.
As a result of this workshop, participants will view cultural
differences not as challenges to team survival but as opportunities for increased
creativity and productivity.
