NAWMBA History
NAWMBA was first established at NCSU in Fall 2006 by two first-year MBA students, Jenn Howard and Tamara Grisard.  Their goal was to create an informal social network for women within the MBA program and connect them with alumni and other women in industry. The NCSU student chapter association became an affiliate of the National Association of Women MBAs that fall.

The National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) was founded in 1979 at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania as a not-for-profit organization. The founders believed that an organization was needed to tackle the issues women face in business and which would be dedicated to the education and promotion of women in business. The original organization has grown to include over 45 high-caliber MBA programs across the nation.

In Fall 2007, the NCSU Student Chapter of NAWMBA began a Mentoring Program as a way for women to network with women in different industries and to potentially gain insights into maintaining work/life balance.

Although NAWMBA is a newly established student group at NCSU, we are working to grow this organization to help support women in business. Please continue checking our website for more information and news about upcoming events!
