The Pre-Veterinary Medical Association of North Carolina State University caters to students interested in the profession of veterinary medicine. Students are able to attend presentations about the diverse multitude of careers in veterinary medicine, meet fellow students, participate in service projects and social events, and choose to participate in opportunities which will help them gain experience and networking contacts that can be quite beneficial. The club also allows students to explore multiple paths within the veterinary field, providing opportunities for interaction with students of similar aspirations through scholarship, leadership, and fellowship.
Every other week the PVMA holds meetings that contain programs with different speakers. Presenters discuss the dynamic and diverse nature of the veterinary career. Members are encouraged to explore the many possible paths that can be taken in the veterinary field. Speakers in the past have included veterinarians in the following practices: small animal, avian and exotic, emergency care, large animal, and specialty (orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, etc). Speakers have also come from the admissions committee at the NC State Veterinary School and from organizations including the Wake County SPCA and the US Equine Rescue League.
