FAQ

"When does the Quiz Bowl Club meet?"

We meet every Monday and Thursday at 7pm.

"What do you do at a quiz bowl meeting?"

Generally, we begin by briefly talking about club business. Usually, this consists of talking about and making preparations for going to tournaments, writing questions for packets, etc. Then, one member reads a packet of questions (usually 20 tossup questions and bonus questions), and the rest of the people attending compete individually or in teams using a buzzer system.

"How long do the meetings last?"

Usually, about an hour, give or take ten minutes or so.

"What do the questions look like?"

The questions we read during the meetings usually come from The Stanford Packet Archive.

"Do you go to tournaments?"

Yes we do! We're planning on going to four in the 2005-2006 school year (click here to go to view them)! We're going to do our best to keep costs down for those who want to participate. We're even planning on hosting a tournament in late March for highschool quiz bowl teams.

"How do I get on the listserv?"

You can either come to a meeting and put your email address on the sign in sheet, you can click here or on the link on the main page (requires a yahoo ID), or you can email the club president (paulstew@juno.com) and he'll take care of it for you. We usually send out an email or two a week concerning club meetings and such. It's the best way to keep up with the quiz bowl club, especially if you can't make it to all of the meetings.

"Is there a fee to join the Quiz Bowl Club?"

Not precisely, but we do ask our members to pay club dues of 5 dollars every semester to help us cover our basic club costs.
