President - Tess Pate (2011) - tlpate@ncsu.edu
My name is Tess Pate and I am the president of the NCSU SCAAFP for 2009-2010. I grew up in Sanford, NC. I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 1 turtle: a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Gabe, an English Bulldog named Deacon, a DSH named Lulu and a Red Eared Slider named Dexter. I am interested in pursuing a career in small animal general practice and I really want to focus on how to integrate both Eastern and Western medicine into my own practice of veterinary medicine.
Vice President - Jessica Ward (2011) - jlward5@ncsu.edu
Jessica originally hails from Idaho, but has lived in North Carolina since attending undergrad at Duke University. She is interested in both wildlife medicine and small animal internal medicine (specifically feline). Jessica loves cats of all sizes: before veterinary school, she worked with lions in Africa; subsequently she worked with the SCAAFP Community Advisor, Dr. Wendy Simpson, at the Morrisville Cat Hospital. She currently has 1 greyhound, 4 domestic shorthairs, and 2 ragdolls.
Secretary/Webmaster - Lara Anderson (2012)
Treasurer - Vincent Ziglioli (2012) - vaziglio@ncsu.edu
My name is Vincent and I am a rising second year. I grew up on Long Island and went to undergrad in Pennsylvania. I currently own a very cute and sweet brown swiss cow, Savannah, that is living in PA. My veterinary interests include small animal oncology and internal medicine.
Fundraising/T-shirt Rep - Natalie Morris (2011)
Operation Catnip Coordinator - Amber Meade - almeade@ncsu.edu
Amber has 4 male cats (3 black cats and one 3-legged orange cat) and hopes to own a dog soon. Her main interest is in small animal clinical practice, but she is also interested in environmental medicine and conservation.
Open House Rep – Kim Struble (2010) - kmstrubl@ncsu.edu
Asst. Wetlab Coordinator - Rachel Getgen (2012) - rsgetgen@ncsu.edu
I am a second-year vet student. I have several interests, thus I will probably keep my focus as Mixed Animal. My favorite areas are feline medicine, surgery, and small ruminant medicine. Since I come from a small town, and wish to return to a rural area to practice after graduation, I shouldn't have any problem following all of these dreams. I am also very passionate about missionary work in 3rd world countries, using veterinary medicine as an inlet to other countries/people groups. I have 4 pets at home; 3 ferocious felines and 1 very confused hamster. :-)
Volunteer Coordinator - Melissa Fleishman (2012) - mrfleish@ncsu.edu
Melissa lives in Raleigh with her Sweetie and four cats: a polydactyl siamese mix, 2 boisterous Bengals, and a delightfully cantankerous old DSH named Johnny Cat. You can call him Uncle Johnny, the kittens all do. When Melissa grows up she wants to be a veterinarian.
Class of 2010 Rep - Kayla Ewing
Class of 2011 Rep - Erin Warren
Class of 2012 Rep - Lara Anderson
Faculty Advisor - Dr. Steven Marks, BVSc, MS, MRCVS
