Q. How do I register to order food?
A. Go to https://www.hills-holos.com/register.aspx. Fill in all the information and click “Register.”
Q. What email address should I use to register?
A. Please use an email account you check regularly. You will be receiving emails regarding ordering and distributions via that email account so it is important that you use an account you will check on a regular basis. If your email account blocks our emails you are at risk of missing important information about your order and the distributions.
Q. What is my ID number?
A.
Please use your student ID or Employee ID or VTH issued ID number. If you do not have an ID number and feel that you are still a member of the NCSU CVM community and eligible for this program, please enter the name of the deparment you work in.
Q. What if I forgot my password?
A. Click on the “Forgot Password” icon at the upper right corner of the login page, and a temporary password will be emailed to you. Please remember to change the password to something you'll remember before logging out.
Q. What if I request a password and I don’t receive one via email?
A. If you don’t get an email with a new password, it is likely that your email account is blocking it as though it were spam or you are not checking the email account that you used to register. For assistance please click the link to 'Contact Webmaster' at the bottom of the HOLOS login page.
Q. What do I do if I have trouble with the registration or ordering process?
A. Please email the Hill's Student Reps at cvm_hills@ncsu.edu.
Q. If I have trouble with the online system, can I call Hill’s directly for help?
A. NO. All questions should be directed to the student representatives at cvm_hills@ncsu.edu. If you are having trouble with the HOLOS website, you may also Contact the Webmaster via a link at the bottom of the webpage. Hill’s will not be able to answer your questions about the food distribution program here at North Carolina State. The food is donated to the College, and SCAVMA is in charge of how it is sold on campus.
Q. When do I need to order food so that I will get it when I need it?
A. About a week before you need it. Orders for any given Tuesday distribution should be placed before the Tuesday prior to that distribution. Ordering windows last from Wednesday to Tuesday, and it ends a WEEK before the food is distributed. This is so the food has time to get here from Kansas. Please see our schedule for more information.
Q. What if I need to make changes or cancel my order?
A. You can edit your order at any time while the order window is open. Just login to HOLOS as you would to place and order, and there is an option to modify your current order.
Q. Do I need a written prescription to order a prescription diet?
A. No. We currently use the honor system, and trust that you have consulted with your vet regarding your pet's health and best interests. Please do consult your vet regarding prescription diets and diets changes. Your regular vet knows your pet's health and history the best.
Q. How can I get treats?
A. We have regular Adult, Light, and Puppy treats available for free at the distribution pick up times. We ask that you take no more than 1 bag per bag of food ordered. Hypoallergenic and prescription treats are available for free upon request. We also have Beef or Chicken Jerky treats for $1/bag.
Q. When do I pick up my food?
A. On Tuesdays from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.
Q. Where do I pick up my food?
A. At the Hill’s Barn which is located behind the vet school near the volleyball courts.
Q. How can I pay for my food?
A. We would prefer you write a check, but we do accept cash. We do not take credit cards at this time.
Q. What do I do if I miss the distribution?
A. Don’t panic! If you don’t pick up your food during the scheduled distribution due to some unforeseen circumstance, you can get it during the next week's distribution time. We will hold your food for a 3 weeks after you order it. While we can’t guarantee your order past its scheduled distribution date, we will not sell your food to anyone else in the meantime.
Q. If I don’t order food online, can I just come to the barn and buy some food?
A. No. We do not have any on-hand inventory for sale. All food must be ordered through the online system.
Q: What if I bought some food that I no longer need? (ie, now need Rx diet, new Rx, deceased pet, etc.)
A: You can exchange unopened food you already purchased. Order the new food you need online, at least enough to cover what you need to return. Email cvm_hills@ncsu.edu to let us know what you'll be bringing back and at which distribution. Then bring the food with you and we'll credit it towards what you're purchasing.
Q. Where does the money go from the sale of the food?
A. All food is donated, free of charge by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, to the school. The money generated from its sale is given directly to the Student Chapter of the AVMA on campus. They are responsible for how the money is utilized. The majority of the money goes to students for educational events such as speakers, conferences, externships, and selectives. The money also is used to sponsor events such as the Hill’s-SCAVMA picnic, the White Coat Ceremony, and the Halloween Party. Last year, the money generated from the sale of Hill’s food totaled over $125,000. This program is the major source of support for students to get learning experiences outside of the curriculum.
