Two levels of SHRM student membership are available:

1) NCSU-SHRM student membership only – membership in the NCSU student chapter (and affiliate membership with the Raleigh-Wake Human Resource Management Association).  Complete the NCSU |SHRM Membership Application (NCSUSHRM_APP.doc)and submit local chapter dues.  NCSU-SHRM chapter dues are $20.00 per academic year (discounted to $10 if you join national at the same time: see below).  Make your $20.00 ($10.00) check or cash payment to:“NCSU-SHRM.”

2) SHRM national (with NCSU-SHRM) student membership – current members of SHRM-affiliated student chapters may also join the national SHRM society as student members at substantially discounted rates.  Some of the benefits of national membership include subscriptions to HRMagazine, HRNews, and Echoes, access to “member-restricted” sections of the SHRM Web site, free customized bibliographies to help with your coursework, discounted rates on professional publications and conferences, scholarship opportunities, and access to research and job search databases.

To join the national SHRM society, join the NCSU student chapter as instructed above PLUS complete the 2008-2009 SHRM Student Member Application form (make sure to include a copy of your class schedule from TRACS to verify your student eligibility) and write a second check (or provide the charge account information on the application form) for $35.00 payable to “SHRM Student Services.”

(Please note that two separate application forms and two separate payments are required: they cannot be combined into a single form/payment as they go to two different organizations: the $10 payment covers membership in the NCSU student chapter; the $35 payment is forwarded directly to SHRM national.)

    * Please DO NOT APPLY ONLINE – submit your membership application through the NCSU|SHRM student chapter or your HR instructor so you will be eligible for local chapter events and opportunities.
