NCSU-SHRM is a student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). SHRM is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 170,000 individual members, the Society's mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available. As an influential voice, the Society's mission is also to advance the human resource profession to ensure that HR is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy. SHRM now has 9,500 student members and 400 student chapters across the USA, Puerto Rico and Guam.

Current members of the NCSU student chapter may also join the national SHRM society as student members at substantially discounted rates. Each year the National SHRM Conference is held by SHRM to bring together HR professionals from around the US for workshops and speakers.
