Places to Dance (dance oriented)

Dances run entirely by sponsoring private dance groups are listed as clubs. They are usually smoke and alcohol free.

Commercial establishments are shown as nightclubs whether or not a sponsoring dance club is involved. They usually serve alcoholic beverages and allow smoking.

Note: many nightclubs are private clubs with restricted admission. Usually non-members must be sponsored by a member. In some cases it may be possible to purchase a temporary membership for a solitary visit. I have listed cases where I know for sure that a business is a private club, but do not assume that the lack of such a listing implies otherwise.

Note: visitors to North Carolina should be aware that this is a tobacco state. Expect heavy smoke levels at nightclubs. Friday and Saturday nights can be the worst, as clubs tend to get large numbers of non-dancers on those nights.
