News
During the March 2007 Board of Directors teleconference meeting, the Board unanimously approved a new mission statement for STC. The new mission statement reads as follows:
STC advances the theory and practice of technical communication across all user abilities and all media.
For the 2006-2007 academic year, our community has been recognized for the following achievements:
- Two students (Kim Rothwell and John Martin) were inducted into Sigma Tau Chi, the national honor society for the Society of Technical Communication.
- The International Public Relations Competition Committee of the STC awarded our community an Award of Excellence for our PR campaign surrounding our first ever Benefit Rock Concert, which we sponsored in October of 2006.
- Our newsletter, Technically Speaking, earned an award of Excellence in the 2006-2007 STC Newsletter Competition.
- Our community received recognition at the Excellence level, and then went on to be recognized as a Community of Distinction, which is the highest level of recognition from the International Society of Technical Communication.
- Milton Hawes was recognized with the "Volunteer of the Year Award."
- John Martin was recognized with the "President's Award."
