The curriculum of Taekwondo consists of Warm-up, Basic techniques, Forms, Self-defense, Free-sparring and Cool-down seasoned with an appropriate amount of philosophy, history, and an understanding of its place in the vast, evolving world of martial arts.

An orientation is provided to beginners with no experience.

Warm-up is not always integrated with formal class time. Students are expected to come in at least 30 minutes prior to class time. Calisthenics and stretching is taught and emphasized as the proper way to begin any form of exercise.

During basics you will increase your knowledge of your balance and concentration. You will learn blocks, attacks, and combinations with appropriate guidance to avoid injury, increase power and understand application. Basics are the foundation from which all knowledge flourishes. You will develop an understanding beyond your expectations.

Forms are series of movements that are proven to be effective in real situations with multiple attackers. The patterns become more advanced with each rank. Hence, your knowledge and mind-body synchronization become more finely tuned as you advance.

Self-defense is a primary goal of many martial ways. Striking points in sequence in one-on-one situations provide more opportunities for fine tuning focus and subduing.

Free-sparring gives students the ability to synthesize and evaluate which techniques and combinations work well with less constraints.

Any field of study requires philosophy, history and frame of reference. Unlike some subjects, self-discovery through action takes precedence over dissemination of information in Taekwondo. Discussion of Philosophy, History, Current Events and Reading material will open the door and your mind to higher levels of thinking and consciousness.
