WESA General Assembly minutes (February 21, 2008)
I. Events and Volunteering Opportunities
---(1) NCSEA needs volunteers for Southern Spring Home & Garden Show: Feb. 27-Mar. 2 in Charlotte. Contact Gabby (gmflanar@ncsu.edu) for more information.
---(2) On April 5, 2008, the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Student Government Association, in conjunction with the UNCW's Chancellor's Committee on Sustainability will be hosting the Inaugural Carolina Collegiate Conference on Sustainability (CCCOS). Contact Abraham (president.wesa@gmail.com) if you are interested in attending.
---(3) WESA still needs help with the club website! Do you want to get more involved with the club and stay up to date with the latest environmental news? You can help WESA out a lot by doing very little! Please;) Contact Kelly

II. Earth Week
---(1) WESA will be involved with Earth Week (April 21-25) by hosting a Bicycle event on campus and organizing an Environmental and Energy Career Fair. TWO committees have formed for each of these main events: The Bike Committee and the Career Fair Committee. If you are interested in joining a committee, then please contact the committee advisers: Abraham (president.wesa@gmail.com) and Sarah (sldombro@ncsu.edu) for the Bike Committee, Chris (chrisrdoerner@gmail.com) and Kelly (secretary.wesa@gmail.com) for the Career Fair. Each committee will meet throughout the rest of the semester to plan for these events. If you have been waiting for a big project to come along so you can be more involved with the club, then this is it!
---(2) The Campus Arts Council and the Waste Reduction & Recycling Center would like to organize an art project/competition consisting of sculpture-like art made from all recycled materials. The competition would be open from now until April 19th, and the art would be judged and displayed at Talley Student Center during Earth Week. This project is open to ideas and suggestions. If you are interested in participating or would like to help out with organizing this project, please contact Katherine Bunting (kebuntin@ncsu.edu).
---(3) The Earth Week Planning Committee meets every Thursday at 12:00pm at Witherspoon, room 204 (the Student Senate chambers). Anyone may attend, so if you have any ideas for Earth Week, please feel free to share them at a meeting.
III. The Leaflet
---WESA's official publication, The Leaflet, will release a new issue on March 1st. All members are welcome to contribute to The Leaflet by submitting enviromental news, articles, events, etc... Please contact editor of The Leaflet, Catherine Frock (theleaflet.wesa@gmail.com) if you have any ideas or would like to join The Leaflet team!
IV. WESA Social Activities
---The WESA Executive Board has decided to turn our General Assembly meetings into fun social events. These events will include movie showings, community outings, rock climbing, volunteer clean-up work, and any other ideas that WESA members may have. If there is something you would like to do as a group, please contact Gabby (gmflanar@ncsu.edu). |
