The Young Scientist Program was initiated during the Fall of 2002 to link NCSU students with Fred Olds Elementary students. We are now an official NCSU organization that aims to bridge the gap in the areas of science between NCSU and local elementary and middle schools. Our activities' primary goals are to enrich students' experiences in the sciences through tutoring, demonstrations (in class and out of class), science fair judging, and more.
One-on-one science tutoring at Fred Olds. Your choice of everyday, once a week, or every other week.
Instituting a Science Club at Centennial Middle School. Students would meet once a week for help on science homework or projects.
Science Demonstrations. These can be as often as you would like (once a week to once a semester), at Centennial's Science Club and at Fred Olds. These demos can be involved in any science, from Rocks to Ostheoperosis.
Science Olympiad Committee. Centennial Campus Students would love the motivation and all the help they can get before the competition.
Carpooling. Don't worry about transporation because Fred Olds is within walking distance from campus on Dixie trail off of Hillsborough, there were plenty at the first meeting who can give rides.
And More! Your ideas are crucial for the club & the schools!
