H.R.1606 Amendment In North Carolina

H.R. 1606 was a proposed amendment to the NC Constitution to ban gay marriage. Civil libertarians and gay right activists claimed victory as the amendment failed to come to the floor before the 2004 legislative session ended.

It is not clear if the amendment will be reviewed by the NC legislature during the new session. The majority of NC representatives are either against the amendment or have expressed some hesitation towards meddling with the Constitution.
