Run, Walk and Roll with Veterans 5k 2014

The 2nd annual Run, Walk and Roll with Veterans 5k, presented by the Student Veterans Association at NC State, will take place at Centennial Campus on . The race is an opportunity for the community to show their support for veterans who have proudly served their country. The majority of the proceeds will benefit the Canine Angels who provide free service dogs for veterans with disabilities.

Every year, at least 3 million animals are put to death in shelters. And every day, 22 American military heroes take their own lives. These nightmares aren’t going away.

Until they do, Canine Angels’ mission is to rescue dogs that are on death row at local shelters, bring them back to health and train them to be working certified service dogs who are then matched and donated to a disabled veteran.

Founded in 2011, Canine Angels has already teamed more than a dozen veterans with service dogs that are helping them reclaim their independence. Our veterans have experienced relief from PTSD, night terrors, fear of crowds, irritability and anger. They are able to rejoin family activities again, with a little help from their Canine Angels.
