helps you make the most of your vet school experience. Here is a
snapshot of just a few of the opportunities that WAAZM has organized
Spring Break Manatee Trip
Each spring break WAAZM organizes a
manatee trip that allows students to get up close and personal with
some of the marine mammal and aquatic species that we learn so much
about. This trip includes a variety of activities including
swimming with wild manatees in Florida, behind-the-scenes tours at some
of the major research and medical facilities for marine life, and
visits to wildlife parks. Don't miss your chance to be a part of
Weapons and Darting Wetlab
Darting can be a very important aspect
of zoological and wildlife medicine. WAAZM's weapons and darting
wetlab teaches students how to safely use darting equipment, aim
properly, and other important aspects of weapons handling.
Students who have demonstrated their knowledge of weapon safety may
even hold their own practice sessions.
Coral Reef Tank Management
The coral reef tank that is displayed in the
veterinary school's lobby is managed and maintained entirely by
students. By helping maintain the tank, students can develop
skills in water quality testing, identifying and fragmenting different
types of corals, and managing coral health. Maintenance shifts
are scheduled and managed by the WAAZM aquarium representative.
These are just a few of the events and
activities that WAAZM coordinates. Please contact a WAAZM
representative for more information on how to get involved!
