Sandra Harding speaks at NCSU. This feminist Philosopher of Science and Professor at UCLA will speak on the topic "Can Women Ever Become Modern? Feminist Science, Technology, and Environmental Issues." The talk will draw in her new book, Sciences From Below: Feminisms, Postcolonalities, and Modernities, which is scheduled to appear from Duke University Press in Spring 2008. This important work argues that scientific and technological innovation can advance social justice projects around the world when linked to the empirical knowledge and traditions of the global South.
